• 08-Sep-2000 - News from Durwin Wright of the OpenROAD Development Department:

  1. You will be able to migrate from OR 3.5 to OR 4.0 or OR 4.1.  The migration effort will be identical for OR 4.0 and OR 4.1.  OR 3.5 image files are not compatible with OR 4.x.  OR 4.0 image files are compatible with OR 4.1.  OR 4.1 image files are not compatible with OR 4.0.
  2. The OR 4.1 HP-UX 10.20 port is complete.  We will be building the HP-UX 11.0 version very shortly.  I will be soliciting people for the beta program within a month.
  3. The OR 4.1 Solaris (2.6, 2.7 and 8.0) version is nearing completion.  We will be solicitiing people for the beta program within a month.
  4. The OR 4.1 AIX (4.3) is being ported.  The AIX port is running about two to four weeks behind the other ports.
  5. OR 4.1 on Windows, HP-UX, Solaris and AIX appear to have identical functionality. They are being built from the same source code line.  The core OR 4.1 functionality and the OpenROAD Application Server have been ported.  We can now communicate from any OR 4.1 client on any platform to any OR 4.1 Application Server on any platform. (One very curious configuration is: WNT->IIS->ASP->DCOM->HPUX->ORAPPSVR->INGRES.)
  
  We are being very strict about participation in the Pre-Beta and Beta programs. I have very specific goals that I want to achieve.
  I am writing a more detailed overview of the OR 4.1 content, platform availability and functionality.
  The existing OpenROAD beta sites have provided me with valuable feedback.

• 04-Aug-2000 - A CD of the proceedings for the Ingres/OpenROAD track is available for those clients that attended CA-World 2000 and can be requested from: http://support.ca.com/ingrescdreq.html.

• 26-May-2000 - The proceedings for all the OpenROAD sessions at CA-World 2000 are now available on-line at: http://www.caworld.com/proceedings/2000/databases/#DNA

• 29-Mar-2000 - News from Durwin Wright of the OpenROAD Development Department:

• 1. OR 4.0 for Solaris is shipping Beta 2.

  2. OR 4.0 for Solaris Beta 3/GA 1 Candidate is being built.

  3. OR 4.1 for HP-UX 10.20 Beta 1 is being built. We should be able
     to run this on HP-UX 11.0

  4. OR 4.1 for AIX 4.3 Beta 1 will be built after CA-World

  5. OR 4.1 for Solaris Beta 1 will be built after CA-World

  • We are trying to have OR 4.1 for 95/98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and HP-UX 10.20, ready by OR 4.1 Beta 1. Solaris 2.7 is a stretch goal by this timeframe.

  • We are trying to have OR 4.1 for 95/98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Solaris 2.7, HP-UX 10.20, HP-UX 11.0 and AIX 4.3 ready by OR 4.1 Beta 2.

  • The OR 4.0 Unix versions are based on MainWin 3.3.

  • The OR 4.1 Unix versions are based on MainWin 3.4.

• 29-Jan-2000 - The latest information about Ingres and OpenROAD at CA-World 2000 is now available.

• 19-Jan-2000 - The latest series of patches, starting with 6264, are available for OpenROAD 3.5/03 for Windows NT/95/98 and are available for download at: ftp://mf.cai.com/CAproducts/ingres/int_wnt/OpenROAD/3.5_03_00
